A combo waterproofing system is a layered build up of a waterproof membrane covered by a protective screed or finish, used on roofs and podium decks that carry foot traffic, planting or equipment, so the membrane is shielded from wear, sun and impact.
On an exposed roof the membrane takes the full force of the sun and anything walking on it. A combo system moves that load onto a sacrificial layer above the membrane, which extends the life of the waterproofing and lets the surface be used, not just sealed.
Where a combo system is the right choice
Combo systems suit accessible roofs and podium decks, terraces that carry furniture or planters, and any surface where equipment sits or people walk. The membrane does the waterproofing, the screed above takes the traffic and the heat, and the two work as one build up rather than a single exposed coat.
How the layers work together
We prepare and prime the deck, install the waterproof membrane with full detailing at upstands, drains and penetrations, flood test it while it is still exposed, then lay the protective screed or finish over the top. Testing before the protection goes down is the point that matters: once the screed is on, the seal below has already been proven.
